Webb Simpson – (+1200 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Simpson is the odds-on favorite (+1200) and third-highest-priced golfer ($10,600) on DraftKings. After a pair of missed cuts, Simpson now has back-to-back finishes inside the Top-20. He is clicking at the right time and has strong ranks in Par-4 Scoring (12th) and Putting (15th). In addition, Simpson ranks fourth in Strokes Gained Around Green. That could be something that comes in handy a little more than usual.
Top 10 Picks
Louis Oosthuizen – (+150 at BetRivers)
Oosthuizen comes in as the second-highest-priced player on DraftKings ($10,700) and third-best odds (+1800) to win the Wyndham Championship. We can always count on Oosthuizen being right in the mix, as he’s finished at least T-20 or better in six of his last nine outings – five of those were finishes inside the Top-10. Oosthuizen is still looking for that elusive win this year, so I’ll save him for the Top-10 finish instead of the win.
Patrick Reed – (+175 at BetRivers)
Reed has tons of familiarity here at Sedgefield Country Club, with five straight Top-25 finishes. One of those finishes included a win back in 2013. Reed has the fourth-best odds (+2200) and fifth-highest price on DraftKings ($10,200), and that’s right where he should be in a more condensed field like this. As we’ve seen over the years, Reed is the type of player that can turn it on and off at a moment’s notice. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he wins the tournament outright.
Potential Sleepers
Patton Kizzire – (+6600 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Kizzire has some nice ranks in Par-4 Scoring (12th) and Putting (16th) coming into this event. Since this field is a lot less stacked than usual, I can see Kizzire making a move up the leaderboard on Sunday. His approach game could use a little work, though, ranking 69th on Tour. If Kizzire can improve in that aspect, we could be looking at a potential sleeper here.
Russell Henley -(+3500 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Henley ranks incredibly strong in SGAPR (4th) and Par-4 Scoring (6th) on Tour. His +3500 odds don’t seem to indicate a strong weekend is on deck, as he does rank 85th in putting. Henley has been on a nice long break since The Open Championship, where he missed the cut. In addition to having extra practice time, he’s had even more time to simmer over the MC. Before faltering across the pond, Henley had three straight Top-20 finishes.
