Monday’s eight-game NBA slate has a ton of action to get the week started. There will only be one game on national TV this evening- Indiana Pacers at Milwaukee. Playing in the backdrop of March Madness, the NBA still has plenty of opportunities to make some money.
On Friday, I had yet another 3-1 night to increase my season-long record to an amazing 59-32-2 ATS (64.9%)- and you can tell your friends it’s all documented! Here are another four free NBA picks to get you going in the right direction this week:
Table of contents
- Oklahoma City Thunder at Minnesota Timberwolves (-2.5) – Total: 226.5
- Charlotte Hornets at San Antonio Spurs (-5) – Total: 221.5
- Toronto Raptors (-8.5) at Houston Rockets – Total: 223
- Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies (-2) – Total: 219.5
Oklahoma City Thunder at Minnesota Timberwolves (-2.5) – Total: 226.5
OKC: back-end b2b (@HOU yesterday)
MIN: 2 days rest
Having extra rest hasn’t always been advantageous for the Timberwolves this season. But, to be fair, they are the worst team in the NBA. In fact, tonight is only the third time all season that Minnesota has been a home favorite.
This is certainly going to be the least anticipated game of the evening, but there’s plenty of value to be had in this spot. OKC played yesterday in Houston and will now have to make the trip all the way up North, giving this team a very pessimistic outlook. Meanwhile, Minnesota is enjoying a full two days of rest heading into tonight. In addition, the T-Wolves key pieces (Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, Moses Brown) are all in peak form.
Betting Pick: Timberwolves (-2.5)
Charlotte Hornets at San Antonio Spurs (-5) – Total: 221.5
CHA: 4 games in 6 days
SA: 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6
This will be the first game for the Hornets without LaMelo Ball, who will likely miss the rest of the season. Because of that, I would expect Charlotte’s offense to be a bit clunky and out of rhythm at the onset. I’ll take the well-coached Spurs team, as I’m sure they can create some turnovers out of that expected Hornets’ confusion.
San Antonio has an incredible 11-2 ATS mark against Eastern Conference opponents this season. This should be a spot where the Spurs jump out early and never look back. After all, they have won three straight games against the Hornets.
Betting Pick: Spurs (-5)
Toronto Raptors (-8.5) at Houston Rockets – Total: 223
TOR: back-end b2b (@CLE yesterday), 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6
HOU: back-end b2b (vs. OKC yesterday), 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6, 5 in 7
Both sides will be playing a combo of their second game in as many days and a string of either four games in six days or five in seven. This would probably be a good time to also let you that Rockets’ homes games have gone over the total in only 26.3% percent of games this season- that’s the worst percentage of any home team in the NBA.
Kevin Porter Jr. of the Rockets had a fantastic debut week with the team, but a recent quad injury has slowed him a bit in the last two games. In addition to the fatigue, Houston’s young offense will be out of sorts against a well-coached Toronto team. Look for the Raptors to slow the tempo down and try to keep everyone in relatively good health.
Betting Pick: Under 223 points
Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies (-2) – Total: 219.5
BOS: 4 games in 6 days
MEM: 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6
We’ll keep this one short and sweet- 60% of the bets on the total have been on the under, while 81% of the money is going to the over. In fact, four of the last six Celtics-Grizzlies matchups have gone over the total.
This has been an intriguing recent history between the teams. Boston won each of the last 10 meetings (7-3 ATS) but Memphis turned into a much better team last year. The Grizzlies have played well as a home favorite (8-5 ATS) and against the East (11-5 ATS), so I do think they’ll have no trouble scoring. After all, the Celtics are 7-15 ATS on the road this season, with defense being one of the main reasons for that.
Betting Pick: Over 219.5 points
