Tuesday night’s seven-game schedule features some fantastic matchups, with a couple of them featuring some of the home teams here in the NJ/NY/PA area.
We’ll have to wait a while for the matchup of the night, as the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers take on the Sacramento Kings, who are riding a hot four-game winning streak. While I did not see a betting advantage to write about in the two TNT national TV games (Houston Rockets at New Orleans Pelicans & Boston Celtics at Utah Jazz), that is still a great doubleheader to check out.
Here are the four best NBA picks that I like on tonight’s NBA slate:
NBA Picks Today
- Brooklyn Nets at Detroit Pistons
- New York Knicks at Miami Heat
- Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs
- Philadelphia 76ers at Sacramento Kings
Brooklyn Nets at Detroit Pistons
The Nets do get Kyrie Irving back tonight but not Kevin Durant just yet. These two teams haven’t faced each other yet this season, so this will be interesting matchup for them to get acquainted.
Brooklyn needs to get back on track, losing three of its last four games. I do believe we’ll see plenty of offense in this game, even without KD. The Nets have the second-highest rate (72%) of games going over the total this season while the Pistons are at a respectable rate (56.5%) as well. The total has gone over in seven of Detroit’s last 11 games.
Betting Pick: Over 232 points (-110)
New York Knicks at Miami Heat
The Knicks are 4-0 SU after losing to that same team in the previous meeting. We can chalk that up to New York’s new head coach Tom Thibodeau, who has always been one of the best; you can see what a fantastic job he has done with the team already. Here are the results are from those four games:
- @ IND W 106-102
- vs. CLE W 102-81
- vs. POR W 110-99
- @ CHI W 107-103
As we can see, the Knicks defense has been great in those games and is now facing the Heat for the second time in three days. I find it hard to believe that Miami will run New York out of the gym in that scenario, so we should buckle up and expect a tight contest this evening.
Betting Pick: Knicks +6 (-110)

Golden State Warriors at San Antonio Spurs
We have already seen the total drop three points from the open at 233, but we can still hop on the movement before it’s too late. For one, this will be the second time these teams will be facing each other in the last three days; the teams are going to be more familiar with one another. And the second, teams playing on back-to-back nights typically don’t have the drive offensively.
Last night’s game finished as a Spurs 105-100 win on a 232.5 total. Vegas oddsmakers will stick with their data readings, but we can go with something similar to what we saw last night.
Betting Pick: Under 230
Philadelphia 76ers at Sacramento Kings
Our last game takes us all the way out to the left with the rare 76ers trip out West to face the Kings. I am rolling with Sacramento in this one, getting five points and also coming into this game on a four-game winning streak (also 7-1 SU/8-0 ATS in last eight games); those wins came against strong teams like the New Orleans Pelicans, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers.
For Philly, perhaps there could be some rust with the trip out West. While the 76ers have won five of the last six and 10 of the last 13. We can argue that Philly has been playing a much softer schedule of late, but I’m fairly confident in the Kings nevertheless.
Betting Pick: Kings +5 (-110)
