The NHL schedule has a whopping 10 games on tonight’s slate! In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
The three games being discussed tonight are the New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils at Tampa Bay Lightning & Vegas Golden Knights at Florida Panthers. Let’s dive right in and see where the value is tonight.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (1/27/22)
New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets
NHL Pick: Over 6 Goals (-110)
It doesn’t take much to entice me into betting the under for a Blue Jackets game. After all, they are one of the worst offenses in hockey and have scored two goals or fewer in five straight games.
Assuming the Rangers go with Igor Shesterkin between the pipes, it will be nearly impossible to put any pucks past him. Shesterkin ranks second in the NHL with a 2.07 goals-against average, which is .01 away from being the league leader; he could very well be the league leader by the end of the night.
New Jersey Devils at Tampa Bay Lightning
NHL Pick: Lightning -2.5 (+120)
I usually don’t take the chance on these 2.5-goal spreads, but there’s not a ton of confusion in this matchup for the Lightning against the Devils. Despite beating Tampa Bay in their previous meeting (Nov. 20), I expect New Jersey to be on the receiving end of a beatdown tonight.
The Devils are down to their third goalie, and that’s not what you want going against the team with the sixth-most goals per game (3.42). New Jersey has lost five of its last six, with two of the last three coming by 3+ goals.
Vegas Golden Knights at Florida Panthers
NHL Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-130)
Two of the highest-scoring NHL teams get together tonight as the Golden Knights travel to take on the Panthers – Florida ranks second with 4.02 goals per game while Vegas ranks eighth at 3.40.
Unfortunately, the juice is a bit higher than we’re used to on an NHL total, but I don’t mind laying the money in what should be a video-game-like affair. Over the last five games, Golden Knights’ games have scored at least seven goals while each of the last two Panthers’ games has had eight goals scored in each of them.
