The NHL schedule only has three games again tonight. In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
The three games being discussed tonight are the Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers & Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings. Let’s dive right in and see where the value is tonight.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (1/20/22)
Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins
NHL Pick: Washington Capitals ML (+165)
Looking at the betting landscape, we’re seeing the Bruins take most of the bets (62%) while the Capitals are getting the majority of money (73%). After all, Washington has been strong on the road, at 11-4-4, and Boston isn’t exactly coming in on the best form.
In their last game, the Bruins were absolutely embarrassed at home by the Hurricanes, who won by the final score of 7-1. Prior to that loss, Boston had won five straight games but that is certainly a tough loss to overcome like that out of the blue. Look for the Caps to add on to the Bruins’ sad times.
Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers
NHL Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (-145)
Well, the odds have certainly spoken in this matchup of two high-flying teams that are no strangers to putting the puck in the net. The -145 juice on the total going over 6.5 goals speaks more volumes than anyone could ever imagine – this is a historic territory, folks!
Before the total went under by the hook in their last game, Panthers’ games had gone over the total in the previous nine contests. If anything, the Oilers have had plenty of rest and that should have them ready offensively; that sure has not been the case on defense. The Panthers may hit this total on their own tonight.
Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings
NHL Pick: Under 6.5 Goals (-110)
This will be the first meeting between the teams this season, and the Avalanche are coming in on a four-game winning streak while the Sharks have lost two straight. Colorado did play last night, winning a tough 2-0 game over the Ducks, adding the empty netter in the final minute.
Pavel Francouz was between the pipes last night, so I would imagine Darcy Kuemper will get the start tonight. Even though the Avalanche is one of the best offensive teams in the NHL, they are playing on the back end of a back-to-back set and the Kings are stout on defense with a solid goalie behind them.
