With the NHL schedule being dismantled by the Omicron variant of COVID-19, we haven’t had too many games per night. However, Tuesday night’s slate gives us a total of eight games on the slate! As usual on normal slates, I will have a write-up for three games, and those include New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning at Columbus Blue Jackets & Philadelphia Flyers at Anaheim Ducks.
In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (1/4/22)
New Jersey Devils at Boston Bruins – TOTAL: 5.5
NHL Pick: Under 5.5 Goals (-110)
Looking at the betting landscape, we are seeing nearly all of the bets and money go towards the over on 5.5 goals. So, as you all know by now, I love to zig when they zag.
Both of these teams have been involved in games with higher-scoring teams recently. However, tonight could be a chance for both of these teams to get back to their defensive roots. Boston has allowed the third-fewest goals this season, so they will be the ones holding down the fort.
Tampa Bay Lightning at Columbus Blue Jackets – TOTAL: 6
NHL Pick: Lightning -1.5 (+110)
The Lightning just lost a pair of games to the Rangers, and a 9-3 drubbing by the Panthers before that. And the Lightning are still huge favorites on the road?
Tampa Bay should be getting some more players back tonight and that’ll ultimately help them get back on track. Looking at the betting landscape, the number of bets on the Lightning puck line is right around 50/50 while nearly all the money is on the Lightning there. This should be a highly motivated team and, of course, there is the history of the Blue Jackets sweeping the Lightning out of the first round a few years ago.
Philadelphia Flyers at Anaheim Ducks – TOTAL: 5.5
NHL Pick: Flyers ML (+120)
It feels like the Flyers have been out West forever, and that’s because they did play five games out that way in the month of December. But this is more about the Ducks and the current four-game losing streak they’re on. Speaking of teams being ravaged by the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ducks have been one of the unluckiest to go through that fate.
Philly has been playing much better of late, going 5-1-2 over the last nine games. We can even see how much faith the sportsbooks have in Anaheim tonight, only making them a slight favorite against a perceived lesser team like Philly.
