This week’s edition of Monday Night Football features an interconference battle between the Miami Dolphins at New Orleans Saints. Both teams sit at 7-7, just outside their respective playoff pictures. It’s odd that’s a late-season AFC-NFC matchup is so important in the standings.
Here, I will provide the top Monday Night Football picks, odds, and lines for the Dolphins at Saints.
Monday Night Football Picks – Dolphins at Saints
Dolphins | Saints | |
Moneyline | +130 | -150 |
Points Spread | +2.5 (-110) | -2.5 (-110) |
Total | O38.5 (-110) | U38.5 (-110) |
Dolphins ML (+145)
This line stood out to me immediately, especially after the Saints just beat the Buccaneers 9-0 on Sunday Night Football. You’re telling me that after dominating Tom Brady on national TV, the Saints are only going to be three-point favorites on their own field?
I love the idea of taking the Dolphins on the moneyline here, bypassing the limited win, and going for the gusto. Miami has won six games in a row, allowing 17 points or fewer in all but one of them. This is a defense that is built to take on the awkward play-calling style of the Saints and run all those goofy gadget plays with Taysom Hill.
Over 39 Points (-110)
I’m ok with this being a low-scoring game, but we will get the benefit of playing this game indoors – which is something that couldn’t be said for a lot of the contests this week. Of course, that will come into play with the kicking, and just the offense in general. When you have warmer weather, you get to grip the ball better and catch it too.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovialoa might be the perfect guy for this spot, and that’s something that I rarely say about the guy. His caution-to-the-wind style will allow for more throws downfield, and even into the end zone. All in all, taking chances is something you need to do against the Saints’ defense. Look what they just did to Brady last week, making him look like a statue.
