QB: Lamar Jackson, $8400
Although Jackson’s week-to-week fantasy output can be viable, you can expect the same kind of player week-in, week-out: one that lives and dies by his rushing production. In a possible shootout against the Bengals, Jackson’s outlook is trending toward the former.
RB: DeAndre Swift, $7100
In the Matchup of the Traded QBs, new Rams QB Matthew Stafford and his Rams have a major leg up on new Lions QB Jared Goff and the Lions. In fact, they have a 14-point leg up on the hapless Lions. Fortunately, however, Swift can thrive in situations like this one, as the obvious passing-down situations will afford him plenty of run on the field.
RB: Darrell Henderson, $8000
I normally shy away from rostering opposing RBs, but this is a rare case where it makes sense. On the Rams’ end, Henderson has emerged as a de-facto workhorse and should get plenty of carries as Los Angeles controls the game. Meanwhile, Swift functions as a sort of wide receiver due to his receiving prowess. With his team likely trailing most of the game, Swift should garner plenty of targets.
WR: Calvin Ridley, $7300
Ridley hasn’t done much this year, but I’m not so sure there’s much about him that’s fundamentally different than it was in 2020. Against a struggling Miami defense at $7,300 Ridley is a tantalizing play.
WR: Brandin Cooks, $6500
Bad team or not, Cooks is an absolute target hog, and plays in a winnable matchup against the Cardinals secondary. A $6500 price tag is more than fair.
WR: Rashod Bateman, $5300
A bit of a hail mary play here, but Bateman tied for the Ravens’ team lead in targets in his debut. Considering that his fantasy points correlate with Jackson’s, there are definitely worse plays—especially considering that Bateman profiles as the truth when it comes to young receivers.
TE: Ricky Seals-Jones, $5400
This is another pure value play, as Seals-Jones has taken on the Football Team’s TE1 role ever since Logan Thomas went to the IR.
FLEX: Joe Mixon, $7200
Like we are with the Lions-Rams game, we’re hoping for this matchup to become a shootout, as we now have 2 Ravens and a Bengal. Fortunately, Mixon is gamescript-proof thanks to his all-around role and skill set. Healthy again, this is likely somewhat of an underpricing for Mixon.
D/ST: Patriots, $4800
Do we really need any more proof that Bill Belichick keeps rookie QBs in check? At home facing Zach Wilson for a second time—and after scoring 19 fantasy points the first time—this is a very safe, high-upside D/ST play.
