After a thrilling finish at The British Open, the PGA Tour will bring it back stateside for the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. Last year, Michael Thompson was able to fend off Adam Long and many others tied in third place to take home the title. The 3M Open Odds are now live with some interesting opportunities. My 3M Open picks have been based on four key statistics to excel at this course.
Strokes Gained Approach-the-Green (SGAPR)
Strokes Gained Putting (SGP)
Par-4 Scoring Average (Par 4 Score)
Bogey Avoidance (Bog Avoid)
This year’s field isn’t necessarily the most glamorous, as some of the bigger names will take this week after crossing the pond. Some of the bigger names like Dustin Johnson, Louie Oosthuizen, and Tony Finau are leading the 3M Open odds to win.

3M Open Picks
3M Open Expert Pick – Louis Oosthuizen – (+1600)
While he did disappoint some folks last week with that finish at The British Open, Oosthuizen has some of the best metrics coming into this tournament: SGP (1st), Par-4 Score (15th), Bog Avoid (15th). Perhaps, that anger could lead to pinpoint accuracy and timely putting. Oosthuizen had some fantastic finishes in recent weeks, with two in second place and one in third. In total, he’s got six Top-10s.
Sleepers To Win The 3M Open
Cameron Tringale – (+3500)
Tringale ranks quite high in the areas we’re looking for: Bog Avoid (5th), Par 4 Score (15th), SGP (21st). Over his last five rounds, Tringale has only missed one cut and his lowest finish was a T-32. In an event where the star-power isn’t so loaded, it’s certainly possible for him to sneak up the leaderboards and finally take advantage on the last day. Tringale has already shown he’s capable of being around for some meaningful golf on Sunday, with three straight finishes of T-13, T-9, and T-3 earlier this season. Tringale finished in a tie for third here last year.
Emiliano Grillo – (+3300)
This is a very interesting name to look at this weekend, considering his great rebound last week across the pond. Prior to The British Open, Grillo missed three straight cuts – and then went on to finish with a T-12. If you’re playing DFS this weekend, this would classify as a perfect GPP play, in that he can do really well or really bad. At the worst, Grillo is certainly worth throwing $10 at and seeing if some magic can be made. Grillo also finished in a tie for third here last year too.
Expert Pick For Top 10
Hank Lebioda – (+400 at BetRivers)
Lebioda matches up with the areas we’re looking for: Bog Avoid (3rd), SGP (24th), and Par-4 Scoring (26th). Although he hasn’t played in a couple of weeks, the itch to get out there must be absolutely real. In his last three finishes, Lebioda landed a T-5, T-4, and T-8. Lebioda is clicking at the right time, with seven consecutive cuts made.
