John Deere Classic Odds Analysis
This isn’t a very strong field that will be assembling upon Silvis, Illinois this weekend. Berger leads the way at +950 with a few somewhat notable golfers behind him: Brian Harman (+1500), Russell Henley (+1500), Sungjae Im (+1700) and Kevin Streelman (+1900). After that, it’s anyone’s guess. I do like two of the big favorites mentioned above, and also two longshots that could make a run at the title. Daniel Berger
As we mentioned above, Berger comes in as the odds-on favorite at +950 to win the whole thing. Much like any other tournament, there is some type of advantage in betting Berger live – after all, he won’t be leading the ENTIRE tournament. Berger’s game lines up strong here at TPC Deere Run, as he ranks ninth in Par-4 Scoring and 14th in Bogey Avoidance. Not to mention, his peak form (two Top-10s, four Top-20s) over the last five outings.
Russell Henley
After a rough go of things, Henley has finished with T-13 and T-19 in his last two tournaments. Perhaps, this is the right time to get things going for him. Henley ranks in the Top-10 in three of the four particular categories we were looking for coming in – Proximity to Hole (8th), Par-Scoring (6th) and Bogey Avoidance (6th). Henley does have some exceptional levels of success this season as well, finishing third at the Honda Classic and ninth at RBC Heritage in March.

Doc Redman
I’m a huge fan of Doc in most settings, especially in tournaments, such s the John Deere Classic, where he might be able to sneak away with a victory. Redman does have some strong finishes in recent months, with a T-9 at the AT&T Byron Nelson and T-2 at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. This isn’t necessarily the kind of stat we’d lean on with a larger field, but Redman does rank in the Top-40 of three categories we’re looking for: Proximity (39th), Par-4 Scoring (39th) and Bogey Avoidance (36th).
Hank Lebioda
Lebioda is certainly a lesser-known player but maybe we should change that. In each of the last two weeks, the young lefty posted a T-5 at the Travelers Championship and a T-4 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. It wasn’t even that long ago that he finished with a T-13 at the Valspar Championship and a T-17 at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Lebioda has very strong ranks in Bogey Avoidance (4th) and Proximity to Hole (10th) and could very well be an interesting name climbing up the John Deere Classic leaderboard on Sunday.
