After a valiant effort, it’s clear that Tiger Woods isn’t going to be the 2022 Masters champion. There’s a lot that you can overcome at Augusta National, but shooting a 78 isn’t one of those things. And the sportsbooks know it, as Woods is off the board of Masters odds to win today on most books now that he’s sitting at plus-7 and 16 shots back of the leader.
There’s also not much value in current leader Scottie Scheffler, as he’s sitting at -225 to win the Masters while holding a three-shot lead over Cameron Smith. Meltdowns certainly can happen on the final day of the Masters, as we saw during the 2016 event when Jordan Spieth lost a five-shot lead in a matter of three holes. With that being the case, backing someone other than Scheffler isn’t a bad idea today in case the pressure ultimately gets to him too. Should he falter, there are a few other golfers that could take advantage of the opportunity.
Here are the 2022 Masters odds to win today as the field chases Scheffler.
Masters Odds To Win: Final Day
- Scottie Scheffler -225
- Cameron Smith +250
- Sungjae Im +1200
- Justin Thomas +5000
- Shane Lowry +6000
- Charl Schwartzel +14000
- Collin Morikawa +25000
- Dustin Johnson +25000
- Rory McIlory +25000
- Tiger Woods +50000
2022 Masters Best Bets: Final Day
Masters Best Bet Today: Cameron Smith (+250)
With a pair of 68s under his belt in this tournament, Smith is in position to overcome the three-shot deficit if Scheffler has an average day. Holes 6, 8 and 15 are the areas where he’s got the biggest chance to make up ground, as he’s gone 7-under par on those three holes during his first three rounds.
Smith hit 86% of his fairways on Saturday and has hit 71% of his fairways throughout the tournament to this point. His putting also improved substantially on Day 3, as he averaged just 1.33 putts per green in his third round of action. If those trends continue, he’ll be able to put real pressure on Scheffler on Sunday.
Masters Value Play Today: Sungjae Im (+1200)
Sungjae Im has some ground to make up, as he sits five shots behind Scheffler, but he made a nice run on the back nine on Saturday, hitting four birdies on his final nine holes. He hit the fairway on 17 of his 18 holes on Saturday and has connected with the fairway on 81 percent of his drives.
Im will need to hit more of his greens on the final day to make a run, as he’s only hit 59% in the tournament. Hitting 72%, as he did in his first round, would give him a real chance, and at 12-to-1 odds, I’m giving him one too.
Masters Longshot To Win Today: Justin Thomas (+5000)
Justin Thomas is going to have to be just about perfect and have some luck go his way to have a chance, but he has shot a 67 in his second round and hit the green in regulation 72% of the time on each of his past two days. His fairway game is the obvious place where he needs to make an adjustment to make a run at the green jacket, as he hit just 43% of his fairways on Saturday.
If Thomas can keep his drives straight on Sunday, he’ll at least put himself in position to take advantage of a mistake. At 50-to-1 odds, I’m going to take a shot on this longshot on the final day of the 2022 Masters.
