The lack of a clock can be brutal for MLB betting. If you’ve backed the team that’s trailing or the over, then the lack of a clock makes a world of difference. If you’re trying to hold on to a lead or keep the under intact, the lack of a clock can be devastating.
The lack of a clock certainly helped out New York Mets bettors on Monday, as the Mets scrambled back to beat St. Louis with a 5-2 win.
That served as strong notice to the rest of the National League that New York is likely to be a factor in the playoff race throughout the season. This is a good team that can’t ever be truly counted out of a game.
It’s far too early to make firm predictions about the playoffs, of course, but we are starting to learn a few things about each team. Here are the MLB odds, schedule, probable pitchers, and predictions for April 26.

Expert MLB Picks and Best Bets for April 26th
We’ve got a full slate of games today, so we’ve got plenty of options available for Tuesday. Here are my best bets for April 26.
MLB Best Bet April 26: Philadelphia Phillies ML (-160) vs. Colorado Rockies, 6:45 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
We’ve already seen this matchup between Zach Eflin and German Marquez in Denver, where the Rockies are a much better team than they are on the road. Marquez surrendered three home runs to the Phillies and allowed four earned runs on eight hits, and I think that might repeat itself in this matchup.
By contrast, Eflin hasn’t given up a run yet at Citizens Bank Park and pitched well against the Rockies in Denver, holding their lineup to two earned runs in 5.2 innings of work. With the pitching matchup slightly favoring Philadelphia and the batting order greatly favoring the Phils, it’s worth the juice to get a win here.
MLB Best Bet April 26: Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees Under 7.5 Runs (-110), 7:05 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
Here’s something you might not know: Baltimore’s pitching is actually not terrible. The Orioles’ team ERA sits at a solid 3.17, good for seventh in the Majors, and hitters only bat .234 against Baltimore. For what the Orioles were projected to be this season, that’s actually very good.
The problem for the Orioles is that they simply cannot hit, and they’re facing a team that’s been winning with pitching and defense all month long. The Yankees are at the point where they believe that if they can push four runs across the plate, the game is over. There’s good reason: the Yankees are 9-1 when they score four runs or more and 1-5 when they don’t. Baltimore usually doesn’t get above three, and these teams just played out a three-game set where they scored a combined 15 runs. That says this should finish below the number.
MLB Best Bet April 26: Oakland Athletics +1.5 (+100) vs. San Francisco Giants, 9:45 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
The Giants are sending a strong pitcher to the mound in Carlos Rodon, but Oakland tends to hit left-handers well and counters with a reasonably solid pitcher of its own in Dalton Jefferies. In three starts, Jefferies holds a 1.17 ERA, so he’s no slouch on the hill and should keep Oakland in the contest.
The Athletics have been surprisingly competitive this season in the early going and have taken three one-run losses this season along with winning nine games. With Oakland on the run line cashing at a record of 12-5, there’s a lot of value on taking the A’s to cover with a one-run cushion at even money.
