Thursday’s seven-game NBA slate has more betting opportunities to keep the good times rolling. The national-TV slate will be handled by TNT, featuring the Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets & Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers.
Last night, I went 3-1 to bring my season-long record to 76-43-2 ATS (64%). Here are four more free NBA picks for Thursday, April 1.
Table of contents
- Washington Wizards (-3) at Detroit Pistons – Total: 223
- Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets (-3.5) – Total: 224
- Golden State Warriors at Miami Heat (-2.5) – Total: 218.5
- Denver Nuggets (-1.5) at Los Angeles Clippers – Total: 221
Washington Wizards (-3) at Detroit Pistons – Total: 223
WSH: 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6
DET: back-end b2b (vs POR yesterday), 3 games in 4 days (all at home), 4 in 6, 5 in 7
The Wizards do have some type of a possible path to the playoffs, so I would expect them to have more urgency in this matchup against the Pistons. This is a very tough stretch of games for Detroit, playing its second game in as many nights in addition to a brutal stretch of five games in seven days.
Look for Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal should the load and lead this team to an easy victory. The Wizards have won and covered four of their last five against the Pistons.
Betting Pick: Wizards (-3)
Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets (-3.5) – Total: 224
CHA: normal rest, front-end b2b (@IND tomorrow)
BKN: back-end b2b (vs HOU yesterday), 3 games in 4 days (all at home)
Whenever I bet against my own boys, it never works out- until now, I hope. I’ll sacrifice a win for the Nets, who actually gained sole possession of first place in the East last night. However, this matchup might be too much for them to handle. After all, James Harden is doubtful while it’s the second game in as many nights (and third in four) for the team. By the way, the Hornets have been pretty damn good- even without LaMelo Ball. Charlotte is an impressive 14-7 ATS against teams from the East. Not to mention, Brooklyn is 6-12 ATS as a home favorite.
Betting Pick: Hornets (+3.5)
Golden State Warriors at Miami Heat (-2.5) – Total: 218.5
GS: 2 days rest, front-end b2b (@TOR tomorrow)
MIA: back-end b2b (@IND yesterday), 3 games in 4 days
If the results don’t pan out, I’ll have no one to blame but myself. The Warriors had a full two days of rest before tonight’s game with the Heat, who are on the back-end of a B2B and will play their third game in four days. Miami is one of the worst ATS teams in the NBA, so going with Golden State here is a good percentage play as it is. Not to mention, the Heat is 1-5 ATS when they have the rest disadvantage. Now that Stephen Curry is back for the Warriors, this is a much different team. In their last game, the Warriors whooped an impressive Bulls team.
Betting Pick: Warriors (+2.5)
Denver Nuggets (-1.5) at Los Angeles Clippers – Total: 221
DEN: normal rest
LAC: 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6 (all at home)
The Clippers will be without some key players tonight against the Nuggets tonight. That’s it- that’s the synopsis. Those are way too many bodies for the Clippers to be missing. It’s also worth noting that the Clippers might be in a bad funk, considering they lost outright at home to the Magic in their last game.
Betting Pick: Nuggets (-1.5)
