Wednesday’s nine-game NBA slate is great way to get us over the hump and onto the fun part of the week. With so many games on tonight’s schedule, I got off to an early start and plucked some numbers that can be taken advantage of before they move up to an unreachable level.
There’s only one game on tonight’s national-TV schedule, and that will be the San Antonio Spurs at Utah Jazz (yawn). That game won’t make tonight’s three-pack of picks, but I got you covered in other areas. Unfortunately, last night was a losing fight at 1-2, but I am still well-above water at 112-79-2 ATS (58.7%) as the approach to 200 games finally becomes a reality.
Without further ado, here are three free NBA picks to get things back on track.
Table of contents
- Portland Trail Blazers (-11) at Cleveland Cavaliers – Total:
- Phoenix Suns (-2.5) at Atlanta Hawks – Total: 228
- Sacramento Kings at Indiana Pacers (-6.5) – Total: 239.5
Portland Trail Blazers (-11) at Cleveland Cavaliers – Total:
POR: 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6 (all on road)
CLE: back-end b2b (vs PHX yesterday)
This should be a tough game for the Cavs to get up for. After all, they did just play a tough game last night against the Suns that wound up going to overtime. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers are looking to get back on track against a team playing their second game in as many nights. Portland has been quite strong away from home, going 20-13 ATS and 10-6 ATS as a road favorite. On the other hand, Cleveland has struggled at home (14-19 ATS at home) and against Western-Conference competition (8-20 ATS) this season.
Betting Pick: Trail Blazers (-11)
Phoenix Suns (-2.5) at Atlanta Hawks – Total: 228
PHX: back-end b2b (@CLE yesterday), 3 games in 4 days (all on the road), 4 in 6
ATL: 4 games in 6 days, front-end b2b (@IND tomorrow)
I have a feeling this will wind up being the most competitive game of the night. With that, I’ll be persuading you to take the over. Reason being: competitive games will generally go over the total more often; there are extra free-throws at the end of the game and more urgency to put the ball in the basket.
But there’s only particular angle that I really love in this matchup. The Suns will be playing their second game in as many nights and their fourth in six days- three of those four games were played on the road. With Phoenix playing an overtime game last night, on top of the already hectic schedule, we shouldn’t expect to see one of its finest defensive performances of the season. ATL already sucks as it is on defense, allowing three of its last four opponents to score at least 123 points. Let’s have some fun tonight!
Betting Pick: Over 228 points
Sacramento Kings at Indiana Pacers (-6.5) – Total: 239.5
SAC: back-end b2b (@OKC yesterday), 3 games in 4 days, 4 in 6 (all on the road)
IND: normal rest, front-end b2b (vs ATL tomorrow)
This should (keyword: should) be an easy W for the Pacers tonight. After all, the Kings are playing their second game in as many nights and the fourth in six nights- all of which were on the road. And that’s certainly not the type of energy you want to enter tonight’s game on, considering Indiana has dropped 152 and 141 points in their last two games. Quite frankly, this one could get ugly early- and I would love that.
Betting Pick: Pacers (-6.5)
