There is only one game on Wednesday’s NBA slate, but we should it expect to be a dandy. The Denver Nuggets will look to even up their Western Conference Second Round series against the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 (9:30 p.m. EST on TNT). In the series opener, the Suns used a strong second half to propel them to a 122-105 win.
I won both games (76ers -5.5, Clippers +4) last night to bring the playoffs record to 16-19 ATS (all bets at a -110 price). Here is another free NBA betting pick to keep things on a high note.
Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns (-6) – Total: 223
Admittedly, I have a ton of respect for what the Suns are doing. And this all started back in the regular season, as they were one of the strongest ATS teams at home – they were solid overall, before those meaningless end-of-season games took shape. With Chris Paul and Devin Booker at the helm, I think it’s fair to assume a Phoenix victory is in order. But how many points will that win come by?
The Nuggets had a strong first half and actually held a small lead at halftime. It was the second half where things started unraveling, so head coach Mike Malone certainly has his work cut out for him. In my opinion, slowing the game down and taking the rawkus Phoenix crowd out of it will do wonders. There is no doubt that crowd turned that game from single-digit game into the double-digit game we inevitably saw.
So, how does Denver keep it close tonight? Well, it starts with the very recent recipient of the NBA’s MVP award, Nikola Jokic. I just talked about slowing the game down, and it starts with him. Whether he’s grabbing a rebound and taking his time, or using every second of the shot clock, that should be the type of game the Nuggets want to play tonight. In addition, Jokic will need to play exceptional defense at the rack against Suns center Deandre Ayton.
Looking at the betting landscape, the only angle I see is toward the total. We’re seeing 72% of the bets made on the over while a whopping 90% of the money wagered is on the under.
Betting Pick: Nuggets (+6) / Under 223
