Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
Thanksgiving Day starts out with an NFC North matchup as the Bears travel to take on the Lions. The Bears have won each of the last three meetings, including a 20-13 win earlier this season, and four of the last six in this matchup.
Both sides are firmly out of the playoff picture and neither looks likely to get in. However, the Bears do have the personnel in this matchup – particularly on the defensive side of the ball. The Bears are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against NFC North opponents, and we like them to win outright and cover the spread in this one.
Buffalo Bills at Dallas Cowboys
The only total to rise from the open in the Thanksgiving Day games is in the Bills-Cowboys contest. It’s quite intriguing, considering both teams are labeled as ones that like to run the ball and not necessarily air it out. That being said, the Cowboys’ had a string of six-straight games snapped last week in which the total landed on 46 or higher. You have to think they’ll come out sharp after laying a dud in the inclement weather in Foxborough on Sunday.
Similarly, Josh Allen and the Bills had some big games offensively in recent memory. This is also the highest total for a Bills game this season, leaving us plenty of optimism that points will be going on the scoreboard.
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons
It was quite a two-game run for the Falcons, and then they fell flat on their faces against the Bucs on Sunday. For whatever reason, the Falcons aren’t playing good football at home this season – something they’ve always done. In fact, most of their damage has come on the road, where they beat the Saints just a few weeks ago. It is, though, because of that revenge factor why we like the Saints to come back strong and get the Thanksgiving Day win.
Furthermore, Drew Brees and the offense are firing on all cylinders right now with at least 30 points in three of the last four games. Look for them to right the wrongs from a few weeks ago and beat the Falcons handily in this one. The Falcons are 6-17 ATS in their last 23 games as a home underdog of 3.5-7.0 points. Plus, they’re 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games playing on six days or less.
