The NHL schedule only has five games on tonight’s slate, but plenty of action will be packed into them. In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit on Friday, January 28, 2022.
The three games being discussed tonight are the Minnesota Wild at New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche at Chicago Blackhawks & Washington Capitals at Dallas Stars. Let’s dive right in and see where the value is tonight.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (1/28/22)
Minnesota Wild at New York Rangers
NHL Pick: Over 6 Goals (-110)
Both teams have been no stranger to seeing the lamp lit in recent games, especially the Wild. In fact, Minnesota games have finished with at least six goals in each of the last five games.
Of course, the Wild will likely have to deal with Igor Shesterkin, who ranks second in the NHL with a 2.07 goals-against average. Shesterkin hasn’t been his best of late, since coming back from an injury, so perhaps Minnesota will have an easier time getting pucks to the net. I also like the fact that the Wild are somewhat convincing favorites at -135, meaning they’ll likely control the tempo and that should mean more offense as a result.
Colorado Avalanche at Chicago Blackhawks
NHL Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (+125)
The Avalanche will look to complete the four-game season series sweep over the Blackhawks with a win tonight. Two of the three victories have come by two goals, and I believe Colorado will be able to continue its success against a Chicago team that has lost four of its last five games.
This will also be the first game back home for the Blackhawks after a five-game road trip. Those first games back home tend to be an extension of the road trip, thus making things that much harder for Chicago. Colorado has won eight straight games, and 13 of the last 14.
Washington Capitals at Dallas Stars
NHL Pick: Stars ML (-125)
These two teams are heading in opposite directions, with the Stars winning four straight games and the Capitals losing three of their last four. Dallas, in particular, has taken care of business on the road with an aggregate advantage of 8-2 in those matchups at New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Looking at the betting landscape, we’re seeing more money heading towards the Stars in this matchup. I tend to agree with the money more often than not, so I’ll be tailing on this one.
