You would think that we have a contrast in styles as the Panthers travel to face the Blue Jackets. Although, Columbus has looked a lot more like Florida of late, scoring a total of 11 goals over its last two games – and that comes after scoring two goals or fewer in five straight.
The change in scoring pace could not have come at a better time for the Blue Jackets, who are facing the NHL’s second-best offense (4.04 goals per game). Let’s take the over on 6.5 goals with confidence, especially since the Panthers have scored nine goals over their last two games.
Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks
NHL Pick: Blackhawks ML (-110)
Looking at the betting landscape, the Canucks are getting 65% of the bets while the Blackhawks are getting an overwhelming 83% of the money. With a differential gap that wide, I’ll have no choice but to trust Chicago in this matchup.
Both teams have actually lost four of their last five games, so you can’t have too much confidence in either side. To keep middling things even more, the teams have split the season series at 1-1. The Blackhawks did get the 1-0 win in the last meeting back on Nov. 21.
Anaheim Ducks at Detroit Red Wings
NHL Pick: Red Wings ML (-110)
These two teams are heading in opposite directions, with the Stars winning four straight games and the Capitals losing three of their last four. Dallas, in particular, has taken care of business on the road with an aggregate advantage of 8-2 in those matchups at New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Looking at the betting landscape, we’re seeing more money heading towards the Stars in this matchup. I tend to agree with the money more often than not, so I’ll be tailing on this one.
