On Thursday, there are seven NHL games for everyone’s viewing pleasure but I’ll handle the following three: Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres at New York Islanders & Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks.
In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (12/30/21)
Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers
NHL Pick: Panthers ML (-130)
Looking at the betting landscape, we’re seeing the Lightning get nearly all the money and bets as the underdog. While the Panthers did play a game last night, they did have 12 full days off in between their last two contests.
Tampa Bay struggled quite a bit on Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens, so it’s possible there’s some rust coming out of the break; the Lightning did have only six full days off compared to what the Panthers had. Florida is 15-3 at home this season, and that home ice may be the difference in this one.
Buffalo Sabres at New York Islanders
NHL Pick: Islanders ML (-205)
The Sabres also played last night, but they lost a tight 4-3 contest at home to the New Jersey Devils. I did have the Devils last night for our readers, and I will be going against the Sabres here again.
The Islanders have rebounded decently in these last few weeks, playing some quality hockey and even winning two out of the last four. The competitive nature is still there as each of their last seven losses has been by one goal. A turning of the tide is heading the Islanders’ way, and they can get it started tonight with a win over the Sabres.
Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks
NHL Pick: Over 6 Goals (-110)
Yet another team was playing last night and that would be the Flyers, who won in Seattle by the score of 3-2. Philly has been playing much better of late, winning five of its last six games.
I’ll be taking the over in this matchup because I’m not exactly sure if the Flyers can win on back-to-back nights. I do, however, believe they can compete and play fine hockey, so we’ll take the bet on plenty of goals tonight.
