Wednesday night’s NHL schedule is an abbreviated one today with only four games for your viewing pleasure. For my NHL picks today, I will focus my attention on the following games: Philadelphia Flyers at New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche at New York Rangers & Boston Bruins at Vancouver Canucks.
In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (12/8/21)
Philadelphia Flyers at New Jersey Devils
These two teams just met 11 days ago, with the Devils getting a 5-2 victory over the Flyers. However, that was one of the last games for Alain Vigneault as Flyers head coach, and the hope was that the move would energize the team in some fashion. It kind of worked on Monday night, when the Flyers lost to the Avalanche by the score of 7-5. Of course, you’d love to get the outright win, but the five goals were certainly a welcome sign.
I will be taking Philly tonight over New Jersey, considering the latter isn’t in much better of a position at the moment. After all, the Devils have lost four straight games and even dropped their last one to the lowly Senators. I do think we’re getting some nice value here with a team that has a little pep in their step.
Pick: Flyers ML (+145)
Colorado Avalanche at New York Rangers
The Avalanche love to play these up-tempo, high-flying games, and the Rangers will be more than happy to meet them at Madison Square Garden for a duel. New York has won seven straight games and 11 of the last 12, so that should put the atmosphere at a rawkus level for this one.
During the Rangers’ seven-game winning streak, they have scored 4+ goals in five of those games. After seeing the Avalanche as massive -160 favorites on the road, I’d imagine that means they score quite a few goals tonight; the Rangers would respond with a few of their own as well, of course.
Pick: Over 6 Goals (-110)
Boston Bruins at Vancouver Canucks
I’m not sure how the two teams will make it to six goals combined this evening. After all, the Bruins have not scored more than three goals in each of their last five games. In addition, there have been 16 Canucks’ games that have gone under the total- that’s tied for most in the NHL.
Most of the sportsbooks have this total at 5.5, but there is still one six-goal total hanging around out there at FanDuel- and you’ll need to pay the -120 as opposed to -110. Nevertheless, we should not expect a high-flying shootout in Vancouver this evening.
Pick: Under 6 Goals (-120)
