Thursday night’s NHL schedule is an abbreviated one today with only four games for your viewing pleasure. For my NHL picks today, I will focus my attention on the following games: Nashville Predators at New York Islanders, Boston Bruins at Edmonton Oilers & Dallas Stars at Los Angeles Kings.
In this article, I will provide my top three hockey picks tonight to make a maximum profit.
Our Favorite NHL Picks Today (12/9/21)
Nashville Predators at New York Islanders (-110)
I said the Islanders are finally going to get a win one of these days… right? And, of course, they did! New York hadn’t been far off in recent outings and then put a 5-2 beatdown on the Ottawa Senators away from home in their last game.
The line here intrigues me, as the Predators are the better team recently with three wins over the last four games while the Islanders just snapped an enormous losing streak. Nashville should be a much bigger favorite against a New York team that still hasn’t won a game at the new UBS Center. With the Islanders listed as slight favorites, I can see the momentum from the previous win carrying over into tonight.
Pick: Islanders ML (-110)
Boston Bruins at Edmonton Oilers (PK)
The Bruins will be playing their second game in as many nights, but it looks like that won’t be much of a hindrance. We would expect the Oilers to be a decently-sized favorite in this matchup. However, the line is sitting right around a pick em’ after it opened in the area of Oilers -120.
Something is up here with the odds, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Oilers have another below-average showing in the scoring department. After all, they have only scored one goal in each of their last two games. To cap it off, the Bruins have allowed two goals or fewer in each of their last four games. We’re looking at a struggling team against a tired one, and that’s just not a recipe for high-flying action.
Pick: Under 6 Goals
Dallas Stars (-120) at Los Angeles Kings
The Stars will be fatigued after dealing with an energized Golden Knights team last night. In fact, Dallas actually held a 4-2 lead late in this game but coughed it away at the end to lose 5-4. Now, the Stars will have to muster up some more energy in order to come back against a pesky Kings team the next night.
As always, it’s great to look at the betting landscape – and this one does not disappoint. Early in the day (12 pm ET), we’re seeing 80% of the bets going towards the Stars while the Kings are getting 75% of the money. That’s a huge difference in the “Pros vs. Joes” move here, and we’re rolling with LA at home.
Pick: Kings ML (+110)
