MLS Odds, Lines and Best Bets for April 30 and May 1
One of the hardest things to do in sports is go on the road and get a result, which is why Nashville might end up being one of the sneakier picks to do some damage over the next few weeks in MLS. The Six Strings had to play their first eight matches away from home while waiting for their new stadium to be constructed, and they finally get to move into Geodis Park and face Philadelphia after not yet playing at home this season.
Despite that, they’re still in decent shape in the standings, as they’re just a point out of the playoffs with half of their road games out of the way. They’ll play 17 of their final 25 games in Tennessee, which could lead to a lot of quality bets if Nashville makes its home ground into a fortress. For now, here are the odds and lines for April 30 and May 1.

It’s still rather early in this league’s season, but trends are starting to establish themselves here. We’re now far enough away from last season’s results that we can put them in the rearview mirror, unless it’s in regards to performance against a specific team. Here are my best bets for the April 30 MLS weekend.
April 30 Best Bet: FC Cincinnati-Toronto FC Over 3.5 Goals (+140 at BetMGM), 3 p.m.
These teams have given up goals aplenty this season, as only San Jose has conceded more than the 17 goals that Toronto has allowed this season. The reason the Reds haven’t been worse in the standings is that they’ve scored 15 goals, which should set them up well to attack Cincinnati’s weak defense.
The Orange and Blue have allowed 16 goals this season and played out a seven-goal match with Montreal on April 2, so Cincinnati is no stranger to allowing a lot of goals and scoring a few themselves. I think this will be a fairly high-scoring matchup.
April 30 Best Bet: Orlando City ML (-140 at BetMGM) vs. Charlotte FC, 7:30 p.m.
I’m a little wary of taking Orlando City right now after the Lions got decked by the New York Red Bulls, but I think they’ll bounce back here and get back on track given Charlotte’s struggles on the road. The Crowns have just two goals and one point in five matches away from home, and I can’t see them going to Orlando and picking up a win after the Lions got embarrassed at home. This should be a good chance for Orlando City to get back on track.
April 30 Best Bet: Chicago Fire-New York Red Bulls At Least One Team Not to Score (-115 at BetMGM), 8 p.m.
I’m going to keep riding this train until it falls apart, as Chicago keeps either getting blanked or blanking opponents. The Fire have not scored in four straight matches against MLS competition, and they’ve scored a mere five goals on the season. However, Chicago is also playing lights-out on defense, as the five goals they’ve given up this year are tied for the league’s fewest along with Philadelphia.
The Red Bulls are no slouches on defense either, as they’ve given up just six goals on the campaign. This feels like it could end in a scoreless stalemate, and I feel confident that at least one team will not find the net.
May 1 Correct Score Best Bet: Nashville SC 1-0 vs. Philadelphia Union (+550 at UniBet), 5 p.m.
These are defense-heavy teams, so I’m not expecting much in the way of goals in this situation. The teams have never seen more than two goals scored in any of their three matchups in their history (Nashville has only existed since 2020), and after wasting so many chances last week against Montreal, I don’t expect a lot from the Union’s attack. I think there’s a good chance that the home crowd lifts Nashville to a low-scoring win in its first game in the new stadium.
