Parlay bets are never easy to hit. That’s becasue the more legs you include in a parlay, the less likely the bet is to cash. However, the more legs you include, the greater the payout as well.
When it comes to a parlay bet, I like to look for value, pairing strong favorites to ultimately get plus money. That was the formula we followed on our April 8 Parlay of the Day, which saw the Mets, Phillies and Braves all win as favorites to cash for +287 odds. We exploited pitching mismatches and created a winner as a result.
Let’s see if we can do it again today with our MLB Parlay of the Day for April 19.
MLB Parlay of the Day
3-Game Parlay: Brewers vs. Pirates, Rockies vs. Phillies, Mariners vs. Rangers
Milwaukee Brewers (-250) vs. Pittsburgh Pirates, 7:40 p.m. EST, available on BetMGM
It’s hard to get off to a better start than Corbin Burnes has this season, as he’s pitched 12 innings, recorded 12 strikeouts and holds a 0.92 WHIP in two starts. With the Pittsburgh Pirates sending J.T. Brubaker to the mound, the Milwaukee Brewers have the clear edge in this pitching matchup and should be able to give Burnes the run support he needs to lock down a win at home.
Brubaker has yet to make it out of the fifth inning this season and gave up five runs to Milwaukee the last time he faced the Brewers in July 2021, so I feel confident backing Burnes and the Brewers here.
Colorado Rockies Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-250) vs. Philadelphia Phillies, 8:40 p.m. EST, available on BetMGM
The Colorado Rockies are surprisingly leading the Majors in batting average so far this season at .282, and they’re facing a pitcher in Kyle Gibson who allowed four earned runs in 4.2 innings in his only road start of 2022. Gibson has historically been average on the road in his career, with a 4.40 ERA and a 40-40 record 118 starts.
I expect more of the same from Gibson at Coors today. Plus, the Rockies have scored at least four runs in six of their past seven games, making them a good bet to plate at least four runs tonight.
Seattle Mariners (-135) vs. Texas Rangers, 9:40 p.m. EST, available on BetMGM
Robbie Ray taking the mound for the Seattle Mariners against a Texas Rangers squad that can’t keep anyone from scoring sounds like a recipe for success.
This is the first time this year Ray will pitch in Seattle, after signing a big contract this offseason, so he should have the Mariners’ crowd behind him. He should also get some decent run support from his offense against Rangers starter Jon Gray as well as Texas’ struggling bullpen. The Rangers team ERA of 6.19 is dead last in the Majors, so if Ray is anything close to his usual form, the Mariners shouldn’t have an issue pulling out the moneyline win on Tuesday night.
