Most teams now have one series in the books, which offers a bit of insight into what kind of team they might be this season. The Baltimore Orioles, for example, shocked nobody by losing all three of their opening series games to the Tampa Bay Rays, and it’s going to be a surprise if they’re much of a contender at any point in the 2022 season.
Of course, not every team played according to plan. The Los Angeles Dodgers are widely seen as the favorite in the National League and in the World Series odds, yet they went up to Denver and dropped two out of three to the Rockies.
All that does is underscore how important the right matchup is in baseball, making it vital to have the odds, schedule, starting pitchers and predictions for today’s games. Here is the slate of games for Monday, April 11.

MLB Predictions Today and Best Bets
We’re still trying to get a sense of who these teams are, so it’s important not to overreact to what we saw during the opening week of the MLB season. Over time, each team will start to show the form that will dominate the majority of its 2022 campaign. That said, here are my best bets for April 11.
MLB Best Bet April 11: Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees Over 9 (-110), 7:05 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
The Blue Jays have proven two things so far this season — they can hit and they can’t keep runs off the board. In three games against Texas, the Jays and Rangers combined for 43 runs, dwarfing the 24 scored between the Yankees and Red Sox in their series.
With Jameson Taillon making his first start after recovering from ankle surgery this offseason, and Blue Jays’ pitchers holding a 7.67 ERA to this point in the season, it seems likely that lots of runs will be scored here. Throw in that both pitching staffs have command issues (24 combined walks between the two pitching staffs in 2022), and it seems logical that this game gets to double-digit runs scored.
MLB Best Bet April 11: Miami Marlins Team Total Over 3.5 (-150) vs. Los Angeles Angels, 9:38 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
Backing the Marlins to put up some runs against the Los Angeles Angels might not seem like a smart play after Miami only scored nine runs in three games in San Francisco, but I think their bats will come to life with the Angels testing Michael Lorenzen as a starter.
Lorenzen wasn’t very effective as a reliever in Cincinnati last season, putting up a 5.59 ERA with the Reds in 29 innings of work. He never threw more than two innings in an appearance last season, which begs the question of whether he has the stamina to go as a starter or if the Angels plan to make this a bullpen game. If it’s the latter, that could be another advantage for the Marlins, given that the LA bullpen isn’t seemingly a strength of the team.
With a questionable and an even more questionable bullpen, I like Miami to put up at least four runs on Monday.
MLB Best Bet April 11: San Fransisco Giants (-150) vs. San Diego Padres, 9:45 p.m. EST, available at BetMGM
I don’t really see this going well for Padres starter Nick Martinez, who is a true wild card after spending four years away from the Majors while pitching in Japan. That’s part of the reason why this game is one leg of our Parlay of the Day for April 11. Another reason I like the Giants is because I don’t expect Martinez to last long, setting up the Padres’ bullpen to deal with a San Fransisco lineup featuring Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt.
Plus, SF starter Alex Wood was solid in his first season with the Giants, going 10-4 with a 3.83 ERA in 26 starts. He was even better at home, with a 7-2 record and a 3.58 ERA in 15 starts in San Fran. With the apparent pitching disparity here, the Giants moneyline (-150) is one of my best bets for today.
